2nd Quarter Market Update, 2016
2016 continues to be a strong year for real estate sales in the North Country. At the half year mark, sales volume in Clinton County was up 31% over last year at the same time. Most of the increase (24%) occurred in the first Quarter, when a mild winter and early spring encouraged home buying activity.
With the rise in sales volume came an increase in the number of homes sold year to date. By the end of June, 258 home had been sold in Clinton County, compared to 198 in 2015. Essex had 129 completed home transactions compared to 89 in 2015, and Franklin had 132 versus 104.
Home prices have continued to remain stable over the two-year period with the average sales price for a home in Clinton County increasing less than 1% to $142,763.
With so many completed transactions this year, inventory of homes for sale is low, making it an attractive and active market for sellers right now. Those thinking about selling their home might find this a positive time to do so.
